These three considerable performances provide us with a picture of Oswald Kabasta's (1896-1946) abilities, possibly more so than his commercial records. The faulty judgment (he was a Nazi sympathizer) and resultant human tragedy that brought this talented interpreter to such an ignominious end (he committed suicide when he was purged by Allied authorities from the podium of the Munich Philharmonic) should not overshadow the quality of his music-making.

BEETHOVEN: Symphony No. 3 in E-flat, Op. 55 with Munich Philharmonic (1943); SCHUBERT: Symphony No. 5 in B-flat with Vienna Symphony (1943); & BRUCKNER: Symphony No. 9 with Munich Philharmonic (1943).
