More of Furtwängler's fabled Beethoven  performances... These were recorded on lacquer discs just before tape came into general use, so there are some clicks, pops and a bit of surface noise. Despite minor sonic blemishes, these performances belong in every Furtwängler collector's library!

"...be prepared for a particularly unusual Eighth, much more massive and weighty than you are used to, and with a few rhythmic quirks that might bring a smile of affection or derision, depending on your receptivity. ...the rehearsal excerpt from the Leonore Overture No. 3 ...offers a fascinating view of Furtwangler's rehearsal technique..."
