Sound Clips (MP3):
16. Old Time South Street Dance
An improvisational opera, this disc represents some of the most original story-telling in sound. Scott Fields was born in Chicago, where he developed as a musician in the free-jazz scene of the 1960s and early 1970s. Vincent Davis has performed throughout North America and Europe, most frequently as a member of Roscoe Mitchell's Note Factory. Matt Turner is regarded as one of the world's leading improvising cellists. Equally adept in many styles, Turner performs everything from jazz standards and twentieth-century new music to alternative rock and improvised avant-garde.
