Vajra Voices
The San Francisco Bay Area women’s vocal ensemble, Vajra Voices, sings medieval to modern music in a singing style inspired by Hildegard von Bingen that is “clear, sweet, and strong.” The Sanskrit word vajra in some Buddhist traditions represents the clarity and strength of the diamond sword known for cutting through delusion. Vajra Voices debuted at the 2010 Berkeley Festival and has performed on a number of concert series around the bay. In 2014-15 the group embarked on a recording project of Hildegard’s music with instrumentalist Shira Kammen and our debut CD O Eterne Deus was released in 2015. With Vajra Voices, director Karen Clark looks to build a music and educational organization that upholds the arts as being essential to our human existence.
