Five of the six works in this collection previously appeared on a Music & Arts CD. In his review of that set, George S.T. Chu wrote in HPR, "It's not often that you are faced by true greatness as you listen to a compact disc. Often you're transfixed by the music or transported by the harmonics that express something inexplicable about life itself ? but only rarely do you hear a musical spirit in performance that both humbles you by its majesty as well as inspires you by its greatness. Such was my experience in listening to these five violin concertos as recorded by Jasha Heifetz."

Reviewing the same set in Fanfare, David K. Nelson wrote, "In general the reason for enjoying this set is to marvel at the fluency, the tonal beauty, the convincing musicality, and the incredible command of this masterful artist ? and to marvel further that really there was nothing 'special' about these broadcasts: this incredible level of attainment was simply Heifetz's day-in, day-out personal standard, and that, indeed, may be the most astonishing thing of all about Jascha Heifetz. This set can be recommended as an interesting complement and supplement to the commercial Heifetz recordings of these works." (DRA)
