Description

The fortepiano trios of Muzio Clementi and Luigi Boccherini illuminate the transition from baroque trio sonata to the mature classical piano trio familiar in the works of Mozart and Beethoven. Two unknown trios form the backbone of this collection balanced by three 17th century vocal compositions.

The Streicher Trio, known internationally for its sophisticated chamber music making on period instruments, has made two widely acclaimed CDs: Mozart Fortepiano Trios on Bayer, and the Piano Trios of Louise Farrenc and Clara Schumann on Music and Arts. Soprano Judith Nelson, acknowledged as one of the world’s leading singers of the baroque repertoire, appears on more than 70 CDs.
