Unlike previous releases (on Lys and other labels) these are from the original RRG tapes stored in the Deutsches Rundfunkarchiv, carefully re-engineered by Maggi Payne.

Austrian-born and educated Oswald Kabasta (1896-1946) was an outstanding conductor of his day, particularly during the last 8 years of his career, which he spent in Munich. His interpretations featured generally swift tempi, strong accents, and clarity of inner parts. Although the basic pulse was always strongly felt, Kabasta could display great rhythmic freedom within that pulse. The musical line would bend quite flexibly when necessary, yet snap back to its course unswervingly. The performances collected here are in the best possible sound and include a significant Bruckner interpretation. 42-page booklet in English and German includes rare previously unpublished photos.
