9. Divertimento for String Trio in E-flat Major, K 563. i. Allegro
BUZZ: Founded in 1927, the Pasquier Trio was made up of three brothers: violinist Jean Pasquier (1904-1992), once a member of the Paris Opera Orchestra; violist Pierre Pasquier (1902-1986); and cellist Etienne Pasquier. The Trio was active for more than four decades and gave premiere performances of numerous works by contemporary composers such as Martinu, Rousell, Francaix, Damase, Jolivet, Milhaud, and Schmitt. Perhaps their most valuable contribution to 20th century music was their interest in and support of Olivier Messiaen, whose Quartet for the End of Time they premiered and recorded. Their LP of the String Trio K563 of Mozart revived in this release was one of the great chamber music recordings of all time.
