Description

This release from Shelest Piano Duo presents pieces for piano solo and piano four hands by Ukranian composers written between the late 19th and 21st centuries. Having established themselves as solo artists, while garnering prizes and awards along the way, the Ukrainian born husband and wife Shelest Piano Duo brings to the performance stage inventive programs of not only solo repertoire, but four hand music. First Prize winners of Bradshaw and Buono International Piano Competition, the Duo made their Carnegie Hall debut in 2011 and appeared at the venue annually since. Their debut album Tutti, orchestral arrangements for piano four hands has been broadcasted at over 100 radio stations in North America. Anna and Dmitri reside in New York City.

*Five Stars*

“Stirring Performances for piano four hands”

—Dave Saemann, Fanfare Magazine, May 7, 2018

“This is a beautiful recording that provides very, very satisfying listening, not to mention a salutary reminder of the innate musicality of the Shelests.”

—Colin Clarke, Fanfare Magazine, July/August 2018

“Dmitri and Anna Shelest are truly wonderful pianists, and this husband and wife duo has been playing together for quite some time, having made their Carnegie Hall debut in 2011, and winning first prize in the Bradshaw and Buono International Piano Competition about the same time. Their ensemble and artistry are not to be bettered, and the CD should win them many fans, including any readers who purchase it.

The disc was recorded at Patrych Sound Studios by Joseph Patrych, who is as good as they come in recording the piano. Given the sound, the music, and the artistry on display here, this disc comes most highly recommended.”

—David DeBoor Canfield, Fanfare Magazine, July/August 2018
